Requiem

C$45.00Price
  • The Requiem Mass in D minor by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is a work from the last year of his life. Mozart composed only two-thirds of the piece ... his death having interrupted the composition. It was largely thanks to Franz Xaver Süßmayr that it was completed.

The centerpiece of my work is the official photo of Mozart's childhood violin, the reproduction rights of which have been generously granted to me.  by The International Mozarteum Foundation.

We find the violin, two thirds of which are brightly colored, representing the ardor of Mozart. The last third represents the composition completed by his assistant Süßmayr, tinted in a paler color than the master, although harmonious.

The top part is engraved with the M of Mozart's signature, the bottom part is marked by part of Süßmayr's signature.

The treble clef and time signature are a reproduction of the original Mozart manuscript. Tears compose the first notes of Lacrimosa, the sixth Sequentia of the Requiem.

The Catholic Church, for which the requiems are generally composed, is represented by the stained glass window supporting the violin. We finally find in the corners, the reproduction of a structure forged in the metal of St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna, the city where Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart died in 1791.
